DESCRIPTION:Event Details \nHelp save lives and fund the future of American Cancer Society breast cancer research and patient programs.  Join the Making Strides Against Breast movement as we fight for a future free from breast cancer. \n\nWalk as a participant or join a team and fundraise.\nInvite your family and friends to join you.\nRegister as a cancer survivor or volunteer the day of the event.\nSign up\, donate\, details: makingstrideswalk.org/topekaks\nJoin the Facebook group: @stridestopeka\n\nWhat are the basics I need to know? \n\nMaking Strides is Saturday\, October 22.\nRegistration is 8:30-9:30am. We encourage everyone to register as a participant\, but you do not have to register to attend.\nThe 5K walk starts at 9:30am. The route has different options and you can walk one\, two or three laps.\nEveryone is welcome! This is a family-friendly event and we hope you will invite your family and friends to join you.\nMaking Strides is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Cash\, card and checks are accepted throughout the event.\nDonations are always accepted through our website: makingstrideswalk.org/topekaks\n\n5K Route \n\nStart at Evergy Plaza.\nWalk south down Kansas to intersection of 8th and Kansas.\nTurn west (right) on 8th and walk to Jackson.\nContinue onto statehouse grounds sidewalk along 8th and walk to Harrison.\nStaying on the sidewalk\, turn south (left) on Harrison.\nTurn east (left) at entrance drive to the statehouse and walk under/around statehouse to southside.\nOnce circle has been completed\, turn south (left) and continue on sidewalk to 10th.\nTurn east (left) and continue on sidewalk to Jackson.\nTurn north (left) and continue on sidewalk to 8th.\nRepeat steps #4 – 9 for second and third lap.\nAfter completing third lap around the statehouse\, turn right (east) on 8th and walk to Kansas.\nTurn north (left) on Kansas and finish at Evergy Plaza.\n\nFrequently asked questions \nIs this a walk or run?\nParticipants can choose to run\, but they will not be timed. The majority of participants walk the route. \nWhere do I park? \nDowntown parking lots and garages are free on the weekends. We encourage you to visit Evergy’s website for parking details. \nDo I need to register to participate? \nWe hope all participants will register\, but you are not required to register to attend and walk. \nAre animals permitted? \nOnly properly documented service dogs are allowed at the event. \nCan I buy a Making Strides t-shirt or merchandise?\nYes! Shirts and Making Strides merchandise will be available in the merchandise tent.
